Step back in time for an immersive four-course culinary experience at the historic Rothe House. Join us as we bring Medieval life to the table.
Your evening begins in the firelit courtyard with medieval-inspired cocktails, setting the mood for a vibrant, interactive long-table feast. Designed around the best of Kilkenny’s modern artisan producers, the menu weaves together local treasures with exotic spices arriving via ancient trade routes.
Experience the garden as a living larder, where freshly plucked herbs brighten sharing boards, leading into a magnificent main of fire-roasted pork and root vegetables served with hand-picked apple sauce. The night concludes with a dramatic, Samhain-inspired dessert alluding to Kilkenny’s colourful history of witchcraft. Menu and experience curated by food designer, chef and write Clare Anne O’Keefe.

Join Savouring Art curator Clare Anne O’Keefe for an exclusive afternoon at Rothe House, where history comes to life through the senses. This event takes you on a journey from the soil to the plate, blending the charm of a medieval estate with the art of fine cooking.
Your experience begins with a guided stroll through the beautiful medieval garden and the historic kitchen. You will learn about the plants and ingredients that defined Irish food long ago, uncovering the fascinating stories hidden within these ancient grounds.
Following the tour, the kitchen will become our gathering space for a live cookery demonstration and tasting. Clare Anne will show you how to take inspiration from the past and turn it into delicious, modern dishes. You will get to sample these creations while chatting about the flavours and traditions that have shaped our local food culture.
