Each of these events is free and no booking is necessary.

Cultúr 2026: Family Sessions at Rothe House

The Great Kitchen in Rothe House throws open its doors this Culture Night for music sessions and rírá agus ruaille buaille for all the family to enjoy.
Ríona Sally Hartman will be joined by Neil Ó Lochlainn on double bass and feadóg to celebrate the beautiful diversity of languages, with a bilingual family concert filled with songs and stories from Ireland and Europe – from a Hungarian song about poling down a river, to a German song about bees.
Ideal for primary school-aged children but there will be plenty for everyone in the audience from one year old to one hundred and one years old.
Live music continues throughout the evening, with something for everyone featuring performances from rock and trad across the best of local talent, guaranteed to get toes tapping!

Cas amhrán le grúpa cantairí na Feora! Tapaigh an deis amhrán traidisiúnta a fhoghlaim le cabhair ó Fergal de Cantúin, a thabharfaidh cur síos ar chúlra na hamhráin sula gcanfaidh an grúpa go léir le chéile iad, le tionlacan ar an bhfeadóg, giotár, agus bodhrán. Ná caill é!
Join us on Culture Night for an evening of traditional songs in Irish! Take advantage of the opportunity to learn with the help of Fergal de Cantúin, who will explain the background of each song before the whole group sings it together, with accompaniment from the tin whistle, guitar, and the bodhrán. Don’t miss it!
Amber’s One Million Stars for Culture Night

Amber’s One Million Stars Ireland project – Star Weaving Workshop
Celebrate Culture Night by joining Amber Women’s Refuge for a free, family-friendly One Million Stars Ireland star weaving workshop in one of Kilkenny’s historic venues. Discover the calming art of weaving while helping transform a heritage space into a vibrant place of creativity, conversation, and community.
Each woven star represents light, hope and solidarity against gender-based violence. Join the movement and create your visual petition to end gender-based violence in Ireland. No artistic experience is needed and all materials are provided, making this workshop accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants are invited to contribute their stars to a collective installation. Through shared making and meaningful conversations, the workshop celebrates Kilkenny’s rich cultural heritage and the power of community-based action.
