‘Distillation’: A journey deep into the Irish bog landscape

Over two days this August, six performances of the simultaneously intimate and expansive ‘Distillation’ will take place at Rothe House.

Multidisciplinary performance maker, Luke Casserly, grew up beside a bog in Co Longford, and formative experience – together with the end of the peat harvesting industry in Ireland – inspired this highly original performance.

Audiences can expect to be taken on a journey deep into the Irish bog landscape.

Seated around table laden with peat, twigs, and moss, those attending can explore the feel and smell of a Midlands bog from multiple perspectives.

Casserly collaborated with renowned perfume maker, Joan Woods, to create a unique distillation of the bog as the starting point for an encounter which looks at our relationship to place.

‘Distillation’ is a multi-sensory experience that redefines immersive theatre.
