Rothe House’s craft and book shop has been shortlisted for Retailer of the Year at the Kilkenny Business Awards 2025!
We are extremely proud that almost all the items we stock in our shop are made in Ireland, and many are even made in Kilkenny.
This December we will also be stocking our very own handmade Christmas wreaths, skilfully crafted by our Head Gardener, Mary Pyke, and her team of helpers!
Our range of gorgeous scarves and throws are made by Cushendale in Graiguenamanagh, McKernan Woollen Mills and McConnell Woollen Mills in Clare, and McNutt in Donegal.

Our candles, which come in all shapes and sizes (including beehive huts and round towers!) are made by the magnificent Moth to a Flame in Bennettsbridge, while we have some bees wax candles made by Hanna’s Bees in Cork.
Hanna also supplies us with her beautiful honey – heather, wildflower, and ivy – and with handmade, honey-infused soap.
Of course, among our best-sellers when it comes to soap, are the gorgeous handmade products of Kilkenny’s own Denise O’Connell of MySkin.ie!

She is joined on our display table by Three Hills Soap of County Meath, and the ever-popular Donegal Natural Soap Company.
When it comes to jewellery, again only Irish will do! Among our stockists are Corona Silver of Louth, WildWire of Cork, and some amazing earrings by Kilkenny-based jeweller, Inga Reed.

These are only some of the beautiful products that we are so pleased to offer people in our shop, and, of course, we also have a book shop full of Irish books for children and adults alike – and a brilliant history section too!

The ‘Retailer of the Year’ category is a very strong category, and we are delighted to be in the company of both Annaleen’s Boutique and Valley of Roses.
We are hugely looking forward to the Kilkenny Business Awards finals, taking place on the 22nd of August in the Lyrath Estate Hotel.
Wishing the best of luck to all the finalists!
