Magnificent rooms, charming courtyards and stunning gardens tell a story over 400 years old, providing the perfect setting to your special event.
Since 2015 Rothe House and Garden has been a venue for civil partnership ceremonies and weddings.
The Phelan Room
This room was the Rothe’s main reception room and where they would have entertained honoured guests. Located on the first floor and approached by our stunning timber staircase this room is decorated with original art and furniture from the collections of Kilkenny Archaeological Society (max capacity 100pp)
The Ground Floor
Located on the ground floor of the third house, this room was originally a kitchen, as indicated by the impressive fireplace! This room is easily accessible and provides a charming location in what was the heart and hearth of the Rothe’s home. Archaeological objects from the Society’s collections are also on display (max capacity 60pp)
The Rothe Family Garden
Restored to its full 17th century glory, the garden is a real hidden gem and oasis of calm in the busy city centre. Within its limestone walls, gravel paths run between beds planted with herbs, aromatics, flowers and ornamental trees. As well as a thriving orchard the garden is also home to our resident ducks.
The property is available for weddings and wedding photography. We are happy to work with you to create the perfect experience and encourage you to make an appointment for viewing.
