LOCAL HISTORY GROUP

The local history group meet once a month, usually the second Tuesday of the month in Rothe House. The main aim and reason for the group is to research and present items of local history.

After a member has researched an item, he/she will read their piece to the meeting. If the group is happy with the piece, it is then approved for recording and broadcasting in time by the City Radio Station.

The pieces are usually of four minutes duration, but we have had longer pieces and broadcast them over two slots.

Members of the local history group make good use of the Rothe House Library which contains a vast amount of books and local papers, a tremendous source of local history.

Any member of the Society is welcome to join the local history group on the second Tuesday and perhaps will create an interest in you to produce a story of local interest.
