Every Thursday evening, from 25th June to 27th August, visitors to Kilkenny had an opportunity to take a guided tour of Rothe House & Garden in the company of John Rothe Fitzpiers, and his wife Rose Archer, who built Rothe House between 1594 and 1610. They were taken on a journey through the 400 year old story of Rothe House & Garden. Visitors were very complimentary about the tour, and spoke of a greater understanding of the family who lived in Rothe House in the early 17th century.

My husband and I visited Rothe House in August 2009. We found it to be an almost magical experience as we sat in the court yard and listened to a pre recorded male voice singing what sounded like a very ancient Gaelic song. Can we buy a CD of this singer. The Rothe house was magnificent, the gardens enchanting. We hope to return someday.
